I have received a School District Tax Billing Notice Variance and they are saying they have adjusted and found I owe money. Please help.

I received a letter prior stating I didn't file my School District Tax so I did it online and it showed they owed me money.  Now I receive a Variance showing adjusted information and now I owe them.  I am really confused and don't see where they are getting their numbers.

Is there a phone number on the notice that you can call and ask them to explain it to you?

First, do the following steps.

•   Compare W-2 on Turbot tax with your hard copy of W-2 box 19 (local income tax), you might have a typo in      there.
•   Compare your State tax return (PDF) with Variance Line Item Detail Page, to find out what line number        ?show changes. There may be an error in W-2 local income tax (line 19)

If you find your error, simply pay the amount you owe.
If your filling was correct and still can’t figure out why there is difference write the statement for not agree along with W-2s, 1099s, front and back of canceled check or electronic payment confirmation, etc. and send all these to the address they provided you. Follow up may take up 30 days.
