I have already recieved my tax refund but I'm going to amend. so my question is, Do I need to send a check for the amount I'm amending when I send in my 1040x form?

Yes if you owe. Be sure the 1040X shows the original refund you got on line 18. The amended return won't be ready until the end of March.
