I have already entered the information required for my 1099's. How do I print using preprinted forms?

I am using Turbo Tax for Home and Business (2017).  I need to print and put in the mail.  How do I print using preprinted forms?

The 1099 forms print out on plain paper.  No special forms or ink are needed.

Sorry you can’t use preprinted forms.  Are you talking About the 1099 and 1096 that goes to the IRS or about the 1099Misc to give the contractors?

OK - great!  EXCEPT the IRS doesn't accept 1099s (and 1096) not printed on their special "red" ink forms.  Why - oh why - doesn't Turbo Tax give you the format to print on those forms?  Are you really trying to force us to buy the Intuit packaged 1099/1096 forms that come with the software?  Really?  Since we've already paid for Turbo Tax?

You don't need to buy another program.  You can use the Quick Employer Forms online instead of the Desktop W2/1099 reporter.  In fact if you use the Online Self Employed version or the Mac Home & Business program you can only prepare them in QEF and only efile them.  Except the ones you have to print out to give to the people.

Same for the Windows version of Turbo Tax Home & Business - you can save pdf versions and file 1099/1096 online but you can't print on the "official" forms and mail in.  I do this as a volunteer for 5 non-profits who don't have tax returns but DO need 1099s.  I need to use the e-files for our two businesses and my family's four personal returns.    I will check this site for printing forms - thanks for the info!

Hmmm.  Quick Empolyer Forms FAQ------
"Where is COPY A of my Forms 1099 and W-2?
Quick Employer Forms only supports e-filing of the forms with the IRS and Social Security Administration. Copy A of the Form 1099 and W-2 are only used for e-filing and are not provided for printing."

So still unable to print on the blank red forms.......

Yes if you use QEF it efiles the forms for you.  Then you just need to print out the ones to give to the people.
