I have a new computer, how do i get turbo tax files from previous years to open properly.

I transferred the files but they won't open without a license code

You need the TurboTax program from the prior year to open the tax file for that year.

If you want to transfer your 2022 file into 2023 return, once you install TurboTax 2023, you can transfer the data file in.

The TurboTax data files from prior years will not open on their own without the program also being installed on your computer.

You probably have PDF's of prior years' taxes that you can reference, if you don't want to install several years of TurboTax programs on your new computer.

Always print a copy of your completed tax return for your records, and review it carefully before e-Filing.
You will need it if you are audited by the IRS, to contact the IRS, or to amend if a TurboTax update changes your return or for any other reason,
SUCH AS,

 You got a new computer.

AND, to find your AGI next year.
