I have a 1098 t form for 17,000. in my name. 7,000 student loan, 10,000 o.o.p (parents helped) I filed already, can they file as well? How do we split the return?

10,000 was out of pocket. 7,000 was a student loan in my name. I paid a small amount of the 10,000 and they also paid some of it. I am married so I can’t be a dependent. But I already filed and they still want to for the 10,000 that they paid. But all 17,000 was one 1098 in my name. If there’s nothing to do how would we split the return

You cannot split your education expenses between you and your parents.

If you are not a dependent of your parents, then you ONLY can claim your education expenses. Your parents cannot even if they paid part of the expenses.
