I had to amend my tax return because I claimed one instead of zero. Now turbo tax says I owe x amount of money but I have not gotten anything in the mail. How should I approach this?

how did you become aware that you "needed" to amend?  were you properly claimed as a dependent on another's return?     - if so, I can understand the "zero"      you may not get a IRS notice for a while.  if you claimed one when it should be zero , if you don't file amended return you will get a bill from the IRS,  for the taxes + late payment penalties and interest and the longer you wait the higher the penalties and interest will be.   in similar situations, the IRS might not send a notice for over a year.  make sure to amend correct year and if state is involved amend that also.

I submitted my taxes prior to my parents, not realizing they wanted to claim me. As soon as I realized/turbo tax let me, I sent in a proper amendment. My parents still have nit been able to claim me and it has been almost six months. Turbo says I owe a certain amount of money, but I have not received anything from the IRS.
