I owed New York State $101 on Tax Day and paid (there is a statement that lists this was taken out). However, today I had $101 taken out of my account by NYS DTF PIT. Does anyone know what this is?
That means New York State Dept of Tax and Finance Personal Income Tax (PIT) was taken out of your bank account.
Is it normal for this to happen twice? I already had the initial amount documented and have a statement that shows it. Or could this be for the new year?
Not normal but it can happen ... especially if you send a payment & set up the debit.
Was your NY Debit, on or around tax day, also showing on your bank statement as NY?
......Or some other Debiting company? IF not NYS DTF PIT is listed...what was the exact listing as to who debited?
Today's transaction is listed as, "NYS DTF PIT CO ENTRY DESCR:Tax Paymnt" the one from April is listed as "NYS DTF PIT Tax Paymnt PPD" with an ID number attached.
Strange.. I wonder if (somehow, somewhere) you set up State quarterly estimated payments for 2017, and the recent one was just when NY exercised the 15 June Quarterly payment.
Do you know how I could find that out? Like where I would go to stop that from happening?
This is the NY telephone number that seems most appropriate...though it might not be...but they can direct you elswhere if needed:
