I got a letter from IRS saying I must mail all income forms (W2, 1099's) to them to validate my 2022 return filed thru TurboTax. Why did this happen?

2022 federal taxes e-filed with TurboTax in 02/2023 and was accepted by IRS. IRS says they can't process the return and need more information and I must send income forms.  This never happened before, so why now?  Why didn't TurboTax supply all the necessary information?

That's common.  The IRS wants to compare your actual W2 and 1099 with the ones sent in from your employer, etc.  Something must not have matched like the withholding taken out.   Maybe they are missing one from your employer.

the info on your return does not match what the IRS has. this could be your error or perhaps a payor never filed the reporting form.

Once your return has been accepted by the IRS, TurboTax is not involved in the process because of Privacy Laws.  Privacy allows does not the IRS to share information with TurboTax.

IRS has all sorts of programs in process to verify information on taxpayers.  TurboTax would not be informed about those inquiries.

Bottom line is, no one can tell you why except the IRS.

It could be that one or more employers did not submit the employer copy of your W-2 to the IRS.  Or it could be that your entries don't match.  Or it could be a random verification so they can do some statistical testing on how accurate the system is.  Or it could be non-random if you claimed EIC.   (A common form of tax fraud in past years was for someone with no job to file a return with just enough fake income that they qualified for a large EIC payment but didn't owe tax.)
