I forgot to add dependent to my tax return for this year. In which would be the 5th child. Should I amend my tax return? Or would it not make a difference to do so?

So, I forgot to add the 5th child. I am wondering if it will make a difference if I amend my tax return. As in refund amount etc etc. Or not?

don't know because we know nothing about your return.  amend your return by adding the dependent. If your refund doesn't change there's no purpose to filing it.

@Mike9241 You have provided no information about your children here.  We cannot see your tax return.  You cannot get earned income credit for more than three children, but there are other child-related credits which are not limited to three kids.   You can get the child tax credit and the refundable additional child tax credit for children younger than 17.   The amount of the refundable credit is based on how much you earned from working.   Or if you have a dependent older than 16, you can get the $500 credit for other dependents.

If you forgot to add a dependent you will need too amend after your original return has been fully processed.
