I filled out a 8962 & faxed it back with my 1095-A, I did this without using Turbo Tax, do I need to amend my return on Turbo Tax now? Will this effect my return?

I received a letter from the IRS requesting I fill out a 8962, send it back with the letter & the 1095-A. I filled out the 8962 form myself & faxed it back with everything requested. Will faxing it back instead of updating through Turbo Tax effect my return? Do I still need to update/amend my return through Turbo Tax?

Yes. Some people get a letter asking for an amendment and some asking just for the Form and the 1095-A.

If they did not ask for an amended return prepare one for your own records. You will know if there are any changes by doing so.

There were changes, i'll be getting $146.00 less than my original amount. I have a copies of the 8962 I filled out & all other documents that I sent them for my own records, but they specifically stated in their letter "Do not respond with a form 1040X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return."

I was wondering if I screwed up by faxing them the information they requested instead of submitting it through TT. So I still need to login into my Turbo Tax account & select amend my return? Do I send the amended return I do on TT to the IRS electronically even though they've already received my fax?

If they told not to respond with 1040x, then don't. You would have had to mail it anyway.
