I filed taxes using TurboTax but I'm non resident and I found out that's illegal, what can I do?

I filed taxes wednesday 15th February (2023) but I recently found out that's illegal if I'm a non-resident (I had J1 visa) using TurboTax, I thought it was okay because there was a box where you have to choose where you live and where you lived last year and one of the options was "Foreign Country" but I don't know if that's not enough. For instance, at the end I got a 1040 form and I think I should get 1040-NR form.

Amend your return. Nonresidents will file Form 1040NR. This form doesn’t have a standard deduction like Form 1040 so your refund amount or tax due may change.

TurboTax doesn't support IRS Form 1040-NR. However, we’ve partnered with Sprintax to offer 1040-NR tax preparation for international students, scholars, and nonresident foreign professionals. Go here for more info.

Sprintax.com can help amend your return.

Do not amend your return until the IRS has accepted it. Generally, it’s even better to wait until you receive your refund or the IRS has logged your tax payment.

Amended returns can take 16 weeks to process.
