I filed “self employment” in 2017 because that wage was around $750. I also had a full time job that I filed a W2 for. Do I need to do an addendum?

I don’t know if I need to re-do my taxes for 2017 because I didn’t have an actual “business”. I had a side gig, but my commission exceeded the $600 required.

If the reason you did the gig was to earn income, then you are likely self employed by the IRS definition even though you don't consider yourself to have a business. If you included both your W-2 income and a Schedule C for your self employment income on the same tax return, then you likely filed correctly.

The $600 you are referring to is likely the $600 minimum income that you must have for whoever paid you to be required to issue a 1099-MISC. You must enter any amount of income on your tax return along with your W-2 whether you received a 1099-MISC or not.
