I filed my return on Monday and it is still pending. The IRS says it takes 24-48 hrs for processing. Why is mine taking so long to be accepted?

Because the IRS will not officially start receiving tax return until January 27 - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-opens-2020-filing-season-for-individual-filers-on-jan-27
