I filed my federal return electronically today and then realized I need to make some changes to my state filing which has to be filed manually. How do I do this?

Your Federal and State returns don't have to be filed together, so there is no problem with this situation unless you also electronically filed your State return at the same time.  If you didn't file your State return, simply make the changes on your State Return, and print and mail it.  If you did file your state return, you'll have to file an amended State Return.  I would suggest waiting for an adequate period of time before filing your State Amended Return.  That could be up to two months or so for them to process a paper return.  My concern is that you could cause confusion in the State Dept. of Revenue by having a Return and an Amendment "in the system" at the same time.  It might be possible to call them and find out more information.

Thanks this makes sense - however, it looks like there are entries in TurboTax on the federal return (premiums paid on LTC Insurance) that don't impact the federal filing, but do impact state - and I can't figure out how to modify them in the software.  I am working to just file the state taxes completely separately and running out of time.  Please let me know if you have the answer.  Thanks!
