You do not need to amend your Federal return, receiving an inheritance is tax-free from a federal perspective.

Most states do not impose an inheritance tax. The six states that impose an inheritance tax include Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Nebraska, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

You can find out more about inheritance here.
