I filed for unemployment in Dec 2023 but my claim wasn’t processed and I didn’t receive any money until January 2024. Would I need to report this on my 2023 taxes?

I eventually received unemployment benefits for the month of December 2023 but I didn’t get that payment until January 2024. Does this count as income during the 2023 tax year?

No, if you weren't paid any unemployment compensation during 2023, you don't have to report anything about it on your 2023 tax return.

The amounts for 2023 that were paid in 2024 will be included on the 1099-G you get from your state showing your total 2024 unemployment compensation.
