I filed an extension which told me I had to pay $33 for my federal taxes before I could do it. Fixed my tax returns and got a return instead. How do I get the $33 back?

Who do I contact to get the $33 / do a I need a specific form to request it back?

Hello dani602542!  If you used TurboTax to file the extension, then that amount should have automatically populated on your return and been included in the calculation of your refund.  If you want to check, you can print or download your return.  Look at Schedule 3, Part II, Line 10 to be sure the $33 shows there.

If for any reason it does not, you can file an amended return and add the $33.  You would go to the Deductions and Credits page, scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid, then select Income Taxes Paid.  Click Start next to Payments with 2021 Federal Extension.

Hope this helps.  🙂
