The letter has two sort of "vouchers'. One that I should mail if I wanted to appeal their decision, and one that I should mail if I agree and want to pay. I agree and want to pay, but again, nothing on the letter, not an exact figure of the due balance (I can work it out exactly), no mentions of checks, credit cards, nothing. And no balance shown on my IRS profile on their website.
What is the LTR or CP # on the notice ... first page ... upper right corner ?
It says LTR 0474C on main page, after the ref #, and on the upper right corner of each voucher.
The IRS uses Letter 474C to inform you of changes to your return, usually regarding some credit. Often, it means you owe less tax or will receive a bigger refund. Read the notice carefully ... what it is about and what you can/need to do is clearly posted. Are they referencing the original return or the amended return you sent? Amended returns take 20+ weeks to process so chances are the notice is on the original return and the IRS made some changes for you.
If you agree with their changes then send the agreement voucher with the payment.
