I filed a hardship with the IRS , the representative over the phone said since I did it before I filed my taxes they won’t take my refund. Is this true?

It also took me calling 3 times because the first two representatives said there was nothing they can do . Having worked at a call center I know some representatives are just lazy . If you don’t get help the first time I figure keep calling till I do . She filed hardship with me over the phone , and said my refund would not be taken that I’m all set to file.

It depends on what the offset is for.   The IRS only controls tax offsets for back tax owed.  All other offsets are administered by the Treasury’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service, or BFS and the IRS has no control over that.

It was for federal taxes owed . So do you think I will get my refund since I filed for hardship?

You will have to wait and see.
