I efiled in Apr 2020 but I'm still waiting for my 2019 refund and stimulus checks . What happens if I just wait but it's time for my 2020 tax report?

You can file a 2020 tax return even if the 2019 tax return has not completed processing by the IRS.

Where asked for a 2019 AGI enter a 0 (zero) so that you can e-file the 2020 tax return.

If you do not receive any other stimulus payments by January 15, 2021, then the stimulus payment for which you are eligible to receive will be entered on your 2020 federal tax return as a tax credit on Form 1040 Line 30.

The TurboTax program will ask about stimulus payments in the Federal Review section of the program.

For the status of a 2019 federal tax refund you will have to contact the IRS and speak with an agent.

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
Or you can contact your local IRS office. See this IRS website for local IRS offices - http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-Your-Local-IRS-Office-1 or call 1-844-545-5640 to set up an appointment
Or you may want to contact a Taxpayer Advocate in your area. See this IRS website for Taxpayer Advocate in your area and a toll free number - http://www.irs.gov/Advocate/Local-Taxpayer-Advocate

Thanks for your quick response. I don't wish to add the burden to me and IRS' existing workload going through long waiting callings. As long as I still can complete my 2020 tax report while waiting for my 2019 tax refund and my stimulus checks that won't be missed, I can wait.  Thanks for your information. It eased my worries. If it's stated clearly in public (getting the status 'cannot provide' or 'not available' is not really helping!) , it would help many people in my case and save many difficult calls, I think.
