I e-filed my Alabama state taxes last night. The status is still listed as "pending". Do I need to mail a hard copy or does this count as meeting the deadline?
I also made a payment when I e-filed.

No, you don't need to mail a hard copy to the state. The state may take a couple of days to accept your e-filed return but if you e-filed before the deadline, then it's considered timely filed.

Pending counts as meeting the deadline. Even if it is rejected, you have 10 days to fix and resubmit.

Some states start processing e-filed returns at the same time as the IRS, while some others do not. Please see the TurboTax article Why is my state e-file still pending?
