Should I mail in a paper version? I've checked my IRS account and there are no letters or notices, none have been mailed to me, so I have no idea why it's taking over 6 months. If I did something wrong, I'd like to know LOL!! The hotline doesn't even give me the option to wait, it says to call back later or the next business day and then hangs up on me. So, if I did make a mistake, how does the IRS expect people to fix it when there's no information being sent out even via an automated system, and you can't reach anyone? I thought about faxing/emailing them asking about it but I don't have that contact info.
If anyone else has waited 6+ months for an e-filed amended return, please tell me what happened with you lol. People said you couldn't e-file amended returns, but clearly you can because TurboTax let me do it and the IRS got it and accepted it.
Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return. During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer
—six to nine months or more
for many amended returns. Do not expect quick results from amending. When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check. They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns. You can watch for information here:

Thank you for replying to my question 🙂 I know the refund will be by check, I have just been occasionally checking the status using the tool on the IRS website. It says "Your refund was accepted April 22, 2022 but has not yet been processed. We apologize for the delay. Please call xxxxxxxx and have your amended return ready". So that's why I was wondering. Many people who amended returns around the same time have had theirs processed already, so I thought maybe I didn't do it right or something. But I haven't gotten any notices or letters, etc., so I figured I would ask here. 🙂
