I did not include in 2016 return tax credits from 2015. IRS caught this over sight and increased our refund to include these credits. How do I file an amended return ?

Since the IRS corrected and increased our refund.  Is there no Amended return needed?  Doesn't seem right .

That's correct, no amended return needed unless IRS has indicated that you should file one.  IRS will sometimes make adjustments and inform you of them, without you having to go thru the amended return process.

Just keep their letter with your tax file.
