I currently have a loan in the rehabilitation program and was wondering if while im still in that program the IRS can still take my refund?

Yes, the IRS can take your refund (if you are due one) and apply it to your loans. The IRS must provide you with a proposed offset, and the opportunity for you to review your loan records.  This notice would be sent to you via mail, at the best address that the IRS is able to find for you.

The IRS provides a toll free number which you can call, go through the automated prompts, and see if you have any offsets pending on your social.  Their number is (800)304-3107.

I did call that # & it said I had no non tax debts in the system! I thought being In the rehabilitation program they could offset it but could challenge it & show proof I was in the program?
