I created an amended return 1040x and realized I should have create a 1040 form. Is there a way to recategorize it without re-entering all the data?

Are you in the Desktop program?  How did you do an amended return first without doing a regular 1040?  In the Desktop program all you have to do is go to Forms mode and delete the 1040X.
