I ammended tax retur how do i find amount owed

The amended return usually assumes any amount owed on the original return was paid. That amount is shown on line 17 of form 1040X. If you owe any amount with the amended return, that amount is shown on line 20 of form 1040X. 

You should mail the payment in with your signed and mailed form 1040X.
