I amended my return to dependent but I filed as independent.

The form 1040X is still pending so I’m not sure if it changed. I filed my 2019 taxes as independent. My mom wanted to claim me so I amended it. My taxes are still processing so I’m not sure if I’ll receive the stimulus check. If I do and it processes in 16 weeks will I owe the IRS?

Not sure.

No. The IRS has stated that if the stimulus check is issued when there was not eligibility, then the taxpayer does not need to return it.

We are still waiting for IRS guidance regarding updating or providing direct deposit information for the stimulus payments and how they will be distributed to these type of accounts. We will have more information once the government finalizes the details.
