I amended my return due to an error on my part with the dependent section. It has been received, with check cashed. How long do we wait to refile my daughters?

I added my daughter as a dependent when I shouldn't have. I amended mine and refiled and sent a check which has been cashed. It has only been 2 weeks since the check was cashed by the IRS. My daughters was rejected due to my error. How long will it take before she can refile?

No need to wait.  Amended returns take about 3 months for the IRS to process them. The return that was previously rejected must be printed, signed and mailed.  Your daughter will not be able to e-file  this year.  You daughter must mail her return.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return.
