I amended my 2017 040 but when I finished the return, the numbers on the 1040X, Column A do not match my original return...why?

The numbers do not match your original return because something changed in the return before the Amendment was begun. 

To fix this, go back into your return and follow these steps.

1. Cancel the amendment by selecting Cancel Amend in the left menu.
2. Select Yes, I want to cancel my amended return and click Continue
3. With your 2017 tax return open for reference, restore the amounts to the original values.
4. Download the .tax file again, select 2017  from your tax home and select Amend(change) 2017 return
5. Now you can enter your changes!
