I amended a Federal efile return but had not yet submitted the state return. Should I submit the TT amended state return paperwork or redo the state return from scratch?

While it would seem "cleaner" to redo the state return from scratch, I'm wondering if that will present any problems since the Federal return was amended and also for downloading next year to start a 2019 return.

Neither.  Since you've made the changes on the Federal return, they will flow to the state return.  Just file your state return as it is now.  Don't create an amended state return.

Thank you for your response.  However the TurboTax generated state return has a box checked indicating that it is an amended return and the payment voucher also states that it is amended.  It could be that this is not really an issue... I am just unsure.

What state?  You might be able to go back through the state interview, and where it says "do you want to amend a return" say No.

Since I had all the information available and it was a relatively straightforward return, I have reentered the information correctly into TT and saved under a different file name.  Then I printed the NC state return only and will submit via mail.
