I am waiting for another taxpayer's amendment to be processed before I can accurately file my own. What can I do to ensure I meet the deadline?

Just a guess----did a dependent say they could not be claimed and your return was rejected?  Do not wait for their return to be amended.  It takes about 4 months for the IRS to process an amended return.  Do not wait for that.   Print, sign, and mail your own return.   Even after they process it, it may be even longer before the SSN is taken out of the system.  You cannot e-file this year.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Yes, exactly. My father already filed his, with my SSN as his dependent and mine was rejected because I was trying to file as independent but his amendments had not yet been processed. Thank you for the help!
