I am trying to amend my taxes, as I accidentally filed myself as dependent to receive the Recovery Credit. However, it’s not showing up on my amend return?

You will not receive the first two stimulus payments if you are a dependent.  After you change your answer to the question to No for can someone else claim me as a dependent you will need to also fill in the stimulus information.  After you review you return a screen should come up that asks about your stimulus and you will say that you did not receive the fist or second payments (if you did not)

Follow these steps:

At the top of your tax return select Federal Review

That will take you to this screen where it asks if you have already received your stimulus payments.  If you received the first or second payment already, then select Yes and fill in the information.

When that page is correct, you refund will be adjusted correctly.

Hi Mary, I am unable to access this page in order to claim the rebate credit while amending my 2020 taxes.

If you cannot access the page using the method above, please follow the instructions below:

  1. With your return open, search for stimulus with the magnifying glass tool on the top of the page.
  2. Select the Jump to Stimulus in the search results to directly go to correct TurboTax page.
