I am preparing my turbo tax. Under 2016 Refund applied to 2017 federal taxes it will not let me enter an amount?????

Try this:

  1. Open your return
  2. Go to Federal Taxes
  3. Deductions and Credits then scroll down to
  4. Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
  5. Then next to Other Income Taxes , select Start or Revisit
  6. You will then scroll down to 2016 Refund Applied to 2017
  7. Select Start or Revisit next to Federal State or Local
  8. Enter your amount and hit continue, follow the prompts.

That is what I was doing. Anyway, it finally took my entry. All is good.
