I am owed .003 cents in SS withheld. I don't want to go through the trouble of asking for a W-2c. Will I be audited? Will the IRS reimbursement for the .003?

TurboTax says: You may be due a refund from your employer
Double-check the Social Security tax withheld to make sure we've got the right amounts. Select Back to make any changes to your forms.
If these amounts match your W-2, you're entitled to a refund from your employer. Your employer should also give you a corrected W-2 (Form W-2c) with the updated withholding amount.
Don't file your tax return until you have your W-2c and you've added the corrected info in TurboTax.

Box 4 should be .062 x box 3.  Try leaving the cents off of box 4.

VolvoGirl is correct.  And no, you won't be audited, nor will the IRS reimburse you the $.003, or $.03 for that matter.

Hello,

Would it be OK if I leave the .03 and proceed with filing? My SS with held is $744.03. I rather type in as is indicated on my W2 then removing the .03. Does it matter either way?

(Turbo tax is telling me I'm owed .03 and to request the W2c from my employer and to "Don't file your tax return until you have your W-2c and you've added the corrected info in Turbo Tax." But when I hit continue it seems like Turbo Tax is letting me continue with filing.)

Thank-You

Leave off the cents.  Just round the amount.  .03 rounds down to zero.

Thank-you for your help. My Turbo tax return requires that I file it by mail versus digitally. I have to attach all tax documents with it. What if the IRS sees the .03 but I have removed it from my filing? Will this cause trouble? Is this a dishonest reporting on my behalf? Should I stay true to what's on my W2?

Thanks.

No, it will not cause any trouble.  You have done nothing wrong. Mail tax forms and tax schedules along with your W-2 to the address provided by TurboTax.

Don't forget to mail your state return as well and include a copy of your W-2 with your state as well.
