If you entered an incorrect social security number and it doesn't match the IRS records, then your return will get rejected. If your return gets rejected, you'll be able to correct the SSN and submit the corrected return.

What is your e-file status?   Accepted or Rejected

Sign in to TurboTax to check your current status. You'll find it in Tax Home after sign in.    If it shows rejected, click on Fix It, and update the information.   Once you have the correct number entered, proceed to the File section to e-file your return.

If you used TurboTax CD/Download you can check your e-file status by opening the File menu and selecting Check E-filing status or by opening your return, selecting the File tab, and selecting the Check E-file Status header.
