I accidentally forgot to put my PO box number for my return

How do I fix this to ensure I get my refund?

If the only change that you need to make to your tax return is an updating of your address (and you've already or just filed your tax return), then you don't need to "amend" the tax return.  Instead, you should promptly contact the IRS (and your state department of revenue, if applicable, if you filed a state return as well), and have your address corrected.

In point of fact, if you chose an electronic deposit option for your tax refund, then your home mailing address won't actually matter, if your bank account information is correct.  However, if you selected the paper check refund option, then you will want to get your address corrected as soon as possible, so that you can receive that check.

For the IRS, there are several ways to do this, which are neatly described at the following IRS.gov webpage:

With respect to your state department of revenue and any expected state tax refund (if applicable), the general procedure is to call them on the phone and provide your new (or updated) address to their operations center.  You can generally find any state's department of revenue main line phone number for individual taxpayers by looking on the internet, using your favorite search engine.

Thank you for asking this important question.  (And please keep in mind that many government telephone centers only operate during weekday "regular business" hours.)
