I accidentally filled out my W-4 form wrong when I started my new job last year, I put 8 dependents instead of 1, Can I get audited for the mistake?

I filed with the correct number of dependents and my refund this year is very much less than prior years, I’m just worried I can still get audited for the mistake

No, you don't get audited for error on your W-4.

You may contact your employer any time to correct the W-4 form, but that form is not reported to IRS.
