Do not try to use a pay stub.  Wait for your W-2.  Employers have until January 31 to issue W-2's.  Pay stubs do not match the W-2 you will get.

W-2's come from your employer, and they have until January 31 to issue it.  Some employers allow you to import the W-2 through the software, but for security reasons you still need information from the actual W-2 to import it. Some employers have payroll sites that will have your W-2. You might need to phone, drop in, email and/or snail mail an old employer to make sure they know where to send your W-2.

You do not want to use your paystub to file your tax return.  As stated by xmasbaby0, employers have until January 31 to issue W-2s to employees.  Entries made from using your paystubs could result in inaccurate information being reported and the need to file an amended tax return.

If you have not received your W-2 after January 31, you should contact your employer to request your W-2.  If you have not received your W-2 by the end of February, you can contact the IRS and they will contact your employer.  If you still haven't received your W-2, you can use your paystub to fill out form 4852 and attach the form to your tax return.
