How to edit filing status from filing jointly to single. I didnt notice til now that it was fill out incorrectly

You can change your filling status in the My Info section of TurboTax.

 

To check your Filling Status.  Follow the steps bellow.

 

To confirm your Filling Status

1. Select My Info or Personal Info
2. Click the down arrow next to your name
3. You can see your filling status here.
4. If you need to change it:
5. Choose [Revisit]
6. Continue the interview to About your household
7. Select the correct status.

Five filing statuses

Generally, your filing status is based on your marital status on the last day of the year. You can choose:

• Single if you’re unmarried, divorced or legally separated.
  Married filing jointly if you’re married or if your spouse passed away during the year.
  Married filing separately if you’re married and don’t want to file jointly or find that filing separately lowers your tax. Most couples save money by filing jointly.
  Head of household if you’re single and you paid more than half of your living expenses for yourself and a qualifying dependent.
  Qualifying surviving spouse if your spouse died during the past 2 years and you have a dependent child.

IRS publication on Filling Status

Did you already e-file?  If you already e-filed, you will have to wait for the e-file to be accepted or rejected.  If it is rejected you can make those changes in MY INFO and re-file.  If the IRS accepts the return you will have to wait until it has been fully processed and then prepare an amended return on a Form 1040X.
