**"How to Correct an Error: 1040 Filed Instead of 1040NR"**
Hello,
I filed my tax return for 2024 using Form 1040, but I realized that I should have filed Form 1040NR because I was a nonresident for tax purposes. I incorrectly filed as a resident, even though I indicated that I did not live in the U.S. for the entire year.
Could you please advise on how to correct this mistake? Should I file an amended return (Form 1040-X) and submit Form 1040NR? I am unsure of the process to correct my filing.
Thank you for your help!

the Amended Form 1040X,

Include a copy of the original 1040 Write "Copy of the original 1040"
