The Amended Return Form 1040X has to be printed, signed, and mailed.  It cannot be efiled.  It can take the IRS up to 16 weeks to process an amended return.

Approximately three weeks after you mailed the amended return, you can start tracking it at this IRS website:

I sent my K1 (2018 amended tax return) to the IRS, and can see that the IRS acknowledges receiving it on 04.12.19 (that sounds about right, as I mailed it on 04.08.19).

Everywhere I look, it says to PLEASE WAIT UP TO 16-WEEKS FOR THE IRS TO PROCESS YOUR K1 AMENDED TAX RETURN.

That's great, but we're just about at the 16-week point (about a week shy), and I haven't heard a peep out of the IRS, and the tracking website (https://sa.www4.irs.gov/wmar/login) says the same thing it's been saying since the IRS received the K1 back on 04.12.19.

What do i do if they fail to update the status of my return on their tracking website, and I don't hear anything from them, well beyond their 16-week processing window?

I seriously doubt there's a person i can call or an email address that'll go to a real live person, as the IRS isn't exactly known for their customer service (unless you owe THEM money, in which case they are extremely polite!).

In this instance, the IRS/gov't owes me about $7k ($6,907 to be more precise), so i'm curious if it's taking this long because they owe me money, or if it really DOES take this long to process a K1.

Anyone?

State amended return times vary.
