How long it usualy takes for state taxes to be accepted

States can take 3-5 days or longer than the IRS. Some states start processing e-filed returns at the same time as the IRS, while other don't start processing until later. Some returns remain in pending status several days after the Federal return has already been accepted. This is very common in January or early February.
