How long does it takes for the refund to be approved

Your returns will not be accepted until the IRS opens their e-file system.  The official date for the IRS to start accepting returns is 1/27/2020.  You will have to wait until your return is accepted in order for you to receive a refund.  You could receive your refund within 10 days if you choose direct deposit.  See the following from the IRS for refund information.
