How do I reverse an "override"?

Lines 15a and 16a will not populate from the 1099R. I used the override field which I believed cause the problem. How do I get out of "override"?

Please feel free to post any additional details or questions in the comment section especially if this isn't an override issue.

  1. Click on the Forms icon in the upper right to switch to forms mode and open the form that contains the line item you want to override.
  2. Right-click the line item and select Override.
  3. Enter the value; it will turn red
  4. Switch back to the interview by clicking Step-by-Step in the upper right corner.

To reverse the override, follow the same directions except choose  Cancel Override  in Step 2

When you run the final review, TurboTax will let you know if there are any overridden values in your return. If there are, you'll get an error message if you try to e-file your return.

There is no reason to override if the 1099-R is correct and should go on either line 15 (IRA) or 16 (Other than IRA).

What code is in box 7 on the 1099-R?
Is there anything in box 2a?
Is the IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box near box 7 checked?

Go back to the Forms mode and open the Form 1040.  Highlight the field with the Override.  Right click on the field and in the pop-up window click on Cancel Override.

How do I restore field on override turbo tax.  There is no "Undo Override", nor does TT give me a message saying the field has been over-written, but it appears to have been.  Here's the error that arrives 15 minutes AFTER the e-file was successfully submitted and TT Final Analysis shows no errors:

What happened

F1040-454 - Form 1040, 'TotalAdjustmentsToIncomeAmt' must be equal to 'TotalAdjustmentsAmt' plus (+) 'CharitableContributionAmt'.

TurboTax will not let you e-File if there is any override present.

No I don't know how to fix the error message you got.

I am having the same issue, I can't undo the override. I will call turbo tax help.

Did you get this resolved?

What happens when you go to Forms and click on the field that you Overrode?  Do you get a pop-up with Cancel Override listed?

I never did get an option to cancel the override, but I finally hit "backspace" and the override went away. Weird.
