The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, a $2 trillion stimulus package, will deliver relief through a range of measures, including an advanced tax rebate to taxpayers.

It entails a refundable tax credit of up to:

  • $1,200 for individuals
  • $2,400 for joint taxpayers
  • $500 per qualifying child

Stimulus payments will be based on information from your most recent tax filings, either 2019, or 2018 if you haven't filed this season yet. But, the amount paid to you now will be reconciled on next year’s tax return based on your current 2020 situation.

Turbo Card and Stimulus Deposits - What you need to know

In order to deliver money as quickly as possible to those who need it, the IRS is sending stimulus payments to eligible taxpayers who filed a tax return in either 2019 or 2018 and chose to receive their refund via direct deposit into their checking account.  These taxpayers will automatically have their stimulus payment deposited into the account they received their refund.

We have not yet received confirmation from the IRS on whether they will be putting stimulus payments on prepaid debit cards.  However, we have noticed that the IRS has started depositing stimulus payments on some prepaid debit cards for taxpayers that chose to receive their refund through that method in tax year 2019 or 2018.  If you received your refund on a prepaid debit card in tax year 2019 or 2018, here is what you need to know:

  • I have access to my debit card: If you have access to your debit card (most people), there is nothing more you need to do.  If the IRS deposits a stimulus payment onto your prepaid debit card, you will be able to immediately use the stimulus funds upon deposit.
  • I don’t have access to my debit card: If you received a notification that you will be receiving your stimulus payment from the IRS on your prepaid debit card and no longer have access to it, we will have information coming shortly.  We encourage you to visit this site, where we are continually updating with the latest information and guidance. We know everyone is anxious to get their stimulus money and we are committed to helping our customers get access to their stimulus payment as fast as possible.

What if I received my turbo card but still haven’t received a date on when I will receive my refund? Will I still receive stimulus?

Here is the latest statement we received:

“The IRS is sending stimulus payments to eligible taxpayers who filed a tax return in either 2019 or 2018 and chose direct deposit, and is depositing some stimulus payments onto prepaid debit cards for filers that chose to receive their refund through that method.

For the majority of prepaid debit card holders there is nothing more to do as the stimulus payment will be deposited to their account. If your customer no longer has access to their debit card, we encourage them to visit https://turbodebitcard.intuit.com

The IRS is launching “Get My Payment” where you can track your stimulus payment as well as update banking information if your payment has not yet been issued.

It is slated to be active April 17th.

I will not use turbo tax ever again. Even if it dies deposit into my card the fact that you guys can’t answer a simple question in a time like this is annoying. Y’all the only ones that seem to be left out the loop.

I also need information, about whether or not I'll receive stimulus. I do not qualify as a dependent because I am 24, not disabled, and make more than $4500 yearly but I mistaken filed on my 2019 that I can be claimed as a dependent. Legally, I'm not a qualifying dependent, should I still expect one?

You will need to amend your return to change where you noted you could be claimed as a dependent.

TurboTax, we all know the basics of what we should be getting and how we are to get it. The problem is that you are leaving some customers in the dark. Providing only a generated message ( copy & paste ). From a business stand point you must be absolutely ok with your ratings going down, bad reviews and less revenue. It baffles me how your company can’t even just say something other than a pre-made script. You are referring us to the IRS and the IRS is referring us back to you. Then you state that the IRS has not provided any informations to your company regarding stimulus payment. If so, then why would they direct us back to our banking services ( turbo tax). We do have bills, children and lives to get on with instead of waiting for a deposit to hit. Just give us something other than a generated script. People actually paid for your services, stuff we probably aren’t even using. So just give us the respect we deserve. You may as well, as you can see by the comments your already gonna lose so much money and people are even threatening to take you to court. Cmon turbo get it together.

The IRS website should be up in a couple of days.

The IRS is preparing Websites to update information and check your filing status.  It is expected to be completed in mid-April.

Please read what it says on the right hand side where it says “Filers: Get Your Payment”

So I’ve been searching high and low and how the website is up And running and I just want to say that I will never use TurboTax again the site from the IRS is saying that it needs more information and it doesn’t have enough information to deposit my check and that is bogus bogus bogus and my check should’ve been deposited this is ridiculous that I may get a **bleep** paper check because of TurboTax yes I got fees taken out yes I got an advanced and the  get my payment portal is saying they don’t have enough information to send me any money from the IRS

I had received the exact message. They could have simply told us that if we received a refund advance we would be getting a paper check or had to put in our info manually.

I have vouched for turbo tax my entire tax career. I absolutely will not use them again.

The bank they used is very shady. One of my close friends is waiting on her to come to the turbo card and hers says they don’t have any information to know if she has a tax return on file.

Very very inconsistent and inconvenient on turbo taxes behalf. This is something that should have been very effortless to receive and you let your customers down. Billions people paid in fees for your products and you didn’t give out information to the IRS correctly. We trusted you.

The IRS site shows the last 4 digits of my ssn as the acct# that they deposited my money into today. The last 4 digits of my turbocard  acct are different. Anyone else seeing this and if so did your money still come to your card?

Check your 2018 return to be sure it’s not that account

I checked that one also. It’s a different number, IRS is showing the last 4 of my social not the last 4 of any acct number I’ve had with Turbo

Returning Member

It’s not, the account is coming up as the last 4 of my social and the money is not on my turbo tax card, and when I try to double check on the site it’s telling me to try again later.

I went to it’s.gov, and checked on the status of my payment, which I had assumed would go onto my turbo tax card.. it said it didn’t have enough information to send my stimulus check, so I updated it and used my bank account information. My friend who also received her tax refund on her TT debit card, said hers said the same thing.. I’d advise anyone who doesn’t see their stimulus money this morning to do the same.

It doesn’t give me that option smh, it’s saying it was deposited into an account but the account is showing as the last 4 of the social so that’s definitely not an account.
