I recently tried to e-file my Federal and State tax returns. The IRS rejected my taxes 3 times for the same issue. They could not verify my identity because the AGI on my return did not match that of my 2019 tax return. I verified the AGI on my tax return thru TurboTax and thru what the IRS says it is thru their website. They both match. My return was still rejected all 3 times for the same reason (the AGI did not match my 2019 return). Note, this affected my ability to e-file my state tax return. E-filing my state tax returns depends upon the IRS accepting my Federal tax return. So, I finally had to mail both my Federal and State tax returns into them.
So my question is, How do I get a refund for e-filing my state tax return that didn't happen?
If you used TurboTax Online, we don't charge an e-filing fee. When you pay for TurboTax Online, you're charged a tax preparation service fee. The prep fee is charged whether you e-file or print your return.
If you're using the TurboTax CD\Download version, see How do I request a refund for my TurboTax product?
