You can file your 2023 return by mail after completing it on your computer. You can’t do it online.

You can no longer use TurboTax Online to file for 2023. TurboTax Online is only for the current tax year, which is now 2024. To file for 2023 you have to use the desktop TurboTax software for 2023. You can purchase a download at the following link.

Past Years' Products

The desktop TurboTax software can only be used on a Windows or Mac computer, not on a mobile device or a Chromebook.

Tax returns for past years cannot be e-filed. You will have to print your 2023 tax return, sign it, and file it by mail. When you file by mail you have to attach copies of your W-2s and any W-2G or 1099-R that has tax withheld. We suggest that you mail it by certified mail with a return receipt so that you get tracking and confirmation of delivery. Mail your federal and state tax returns in separate envelopes, because they go to different places. Follow the filing instructions that TurboTax prints.

If you have a simple return and want to file for free you can fill out the forms by hand.  Here are some basic forms.....

Here is the 2023 1040 return

or if you want bigger type use 1040SR for Seniors,

2023 1040 Instructions

2023 EIC and Tax Tables

Schedules 1-3

Don’t forget your state.  And you will have to print and mail your returns.  So be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

Then when you file for 2024 you need to enter 0 for the 2023 AGI since you are filing 2023 late.
