How do I ensure that I don't have any more taxes to pay?

Hello,

    When I was filing taxes TurboTax told me that I had to pay about $1000 more as penalty. Since I had paid my taxes by due date, I thought that was a mistake and didn't pay. Later I realized that if I had underpaid taxes then I will be penalized and hence I should have paid it right at that time. Turbotax had mentioned that I will get a mail from IRS and I can pay this later. However, I am not at home right now and may not even enter the country maybe forever. How do I pay the penalty since I won't be receiving any mail at my home? Is there any website etc. I can go to pay right now?

You can use IRS direct pay to make a tax payment at any time: https://www.irs.gov/payments/direct-pay

 

There will likely be additional interest that you must pay and possibly more penalty. You need to provide the IRS will a correct mailing address for you. Use this form to mail your correct address: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8822.pdf
