How do I ensure my tax filing is processed? I mailed my forms and made a payment online (no refund)

Basically as titled, I mailed in the forms because I want to file a form that TurboTax does not support. I do owe taxes so I used IRS direct pay. The payment was processed but how do I know if my tax filing is processed. The tools for checking the status of refunds do not work for me because I had no refund. How do I ensure my tax filing is processed?

 

I have the same problem with California too.

usually, within a couple of weeks of being processed, you can access a transcript of that return. that indicates it has been processed.  other than that only by calling. if sent in recently it may not be in the IRS system so even an agent won't be able to help.
