I don't know where this extra W-2 came from. There is no company associated with it. There is no obvious place to delete it when I select it on the worksheet that Turbotax presents when I try to fix it.
You must delete a duplicate W-2 on the federal wages screen.
Please follow these steps in TurboTax:
Unfortunately that doesn't work. In my Federal return I have four W-2's from four different employers. All good. However, when Turbo Tax reviews my State filing, it shows a 5th W-2 (with no employer or other info). That's the problem. It's just sitting there in the State W-2 listings, but not the Federal listings. No idea how to delete it, and I can't move forward until I do. I may just delete my State filing and start over for the State. Appreciate any thoughts or comments.
If you need to delete a W-2 in your listings, see the information in this TurboTax FAQ here for assistance. You may need to delete your state return and re-enter your information. See the following link for instructions on how to do so. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/how-do-i-delete-my-state-return-in-turbotax-online/00/25895
Thank you. I may delete the State return and start over. If I do this, will I have to pay for my state return again? Or since I've already paid it will recognize my payment for this 2nd attempt?
Never mind. I see the answer in the link you provided. I don't know how to proceed then. I've paid for my State return, but it has this strange error that I can't fix, and it won't allow me to go forward. Guess I'll file by paper.
Go back to the W-2 entry section in the FEDERAL tab and look at the summary ... do you have a line with ONLY a trash can on it ? Is so delete the blank form there then return to the state interview and continue thru every screen until you reach the end of the state interview to let it reset.
